Founder, Women for Purpose
And it’s what made me really understand how much women carry, often quietly, and how poorly we’re set up to support each other. I found myself asking two questions: how can we do more for each other, and what could I actually do, with the skills I had, to help?
I already knew part of the answer. Seven years working in the not-for-profit sector, starting at the then Alzheimer’s Australia, had shown me exactly how much is asked of the people leading this kind of work. And how little time, funding and support they’re usually given to do it.
It didn't take long to see this wasn't only true for not-for-profits. The same holds wherever the mission comes first: charities, social enterprises, other mission-driven businesses.
These were the women I wanted to help.
I thought that having a space where they could learn from each other, share some of their hard-won lessons, get to decisions and solutions faster, and know they weren't leading alone would ease some of the load.
So I built it — Women for Purpose. My way of giving something back to a sector that already gives so much.
